Invitation
It is with great pleasure that we extend a warm invitation to the 1st Geotech Asia International Conference (Geotech Asia) that will take place in Goa, from October 7th to 10th, 2025.
Asian Regional Geotechnical Engineering Conferences (ARCs) are held once in four years. The first ARC was convened in New Delhi in 1960. Since then it has been held at Tokyo in 1963, Haif in 1967, Bangkok in 1971, Bangalore in 1975, Singapore in 1979, Haif in 1983, Kyoto in 1988, Bangkok in 1991, Beijing in 1995, Seoul in 1999, Singapore in 2003, Kolkata in 2007, Hong Kong in 2011, Kyushu in 2015, Taipei in 2019 and Astana in 2023. During the Asian Council Meeting held at Hotel Hilton Astana on August 15, 2023, the Members deliberated on increasing the frequency of the Asian conferences from every four years to every two years, with the aim to provide more frequent opportunities for researchers, practitioners and professionals to convene, share new developments and pressing challenges, collaborate on new projects and exchange ideas. This adjustment was expected to encourage greater participation from many more countries, with many Asian Membership Societies getting the opportunity to host the international conferences.
In consultation with the Asian Member Societies, the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) has decided to start a new series of Asian regional conferences called Geotech Asia. These new conferences will be held once every four years between the ARCs, to increase the frequency of Asian conferences. The Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS), which had the privilege of hosting the first ARC in New Delhi in 1960, is now proud to host the first Geotech Asia International Conference in 2025. This prestigious event will take place at the luxurious hotel Taj Cidade de Goa Horizon, Goa. IIT Bombay is the collaborative institution and IGS Mumbai Chapter is the joint facilitator.
Geotech Asia offers an exceptional technical program covering a diverse range of geotechnical engineering topics. These will be presented in the published proceedings as well as in the oral and poster sessions. Geotech Asia will provide an excellent opportunity for engineers, geologists, consulting professionals, contractors, national and international authorities, and all individuals engaged in engineering projects and research across various geotechnical topics to exchange ideas and showcase their recent experiences and developments. We hope that you will find Geotech Asia to be professionally rewarding, scientifically stimulating, and personally enjoyable, much like the previous editions of the other Asian Regional Geotechnical conferences.
