Join us for the Geotech Asia Conference, taking place
October 07-10-2025, at the Taj Cidade De Goa Horizon, Goa. This event is hosted by The International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, the Indian Geotechnical Society, and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
The conference will cover various technical themes, including deep foundations, earth retaining structures and Earthquake Engineering. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the latest advancements in geotechnical engineering and construction technologies, with a focus on sustainability and innovation. Experts and enthusiasts from around the world will gather for educational programs and to explore a large exhibition area. This event offers a valuable chance to connect, learn, and contribute to the future of geotechnical engineering at Geotech Asia.
The overarching theme of our conference is aptly coined GEOVADIS - THE FUTURE OF GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING. It aims to showcase future vistas in the computational and practices of Geotechnical engineering. In line with this theme, sub-themes are listed below:

The International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) originated from the First International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering held at Harvard in 1936, attended by 206 delegates from 20 countries. Following this success, an Executive Committee with Karl Terzaghi as President and Arthur Casagrande as Secretary was formed. Despite delays due to World War II, the society was firmly established after the Third ICSMFE in Zurich in 1953. The Society's name was changed in 1997 to better reflect its scope.
ISSMGE is a leading professional body representing engineers, academics, and contractors in geotechnical engineering worldwide. It comprises about 90 Member Societies and around 20,000 individual members. The Society organizes international and regional conferences, publishes research, and supports professional development. As a global organization, it plays a crucial role in advancing geotechnical engineering practices and standards. Dr.Marc Ballouz is the current president of ISSMGE. The Indian National Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering was established in the year 1948, soon after the second International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering held at Rotterdam. This society was affiliated to the International Society in the same year and since then it has striven to fulfil and promote the objectives of the International Society. In December 1970, the name, Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) was adopted.
It is dedicated to advancing geotechnical engineering in India through research, education and professional development. It has a diverse membership base, comprising engineers, academicians, researchers and students. IGS provides a collaborative platform for knowledge exchange and innovation. It promotes dialogue and information dissemination on soil mechanics and foundation engineering through various channels such as conferences, seminars and publications.
The society conducts training programs and acknowledges outstanding contributions, fostering a culture of excellence among its members. It fosters networking with national and international organizations and promotes the exchange of expertise. This collaborative approach enables IGS to play a pivotal role in nurturing the growth and development of geotechnical engineering professionals in India and abroad.
